David Read, no relation to my knowledge to Mike Read the cross channel swimmer. David Read managed the Broom Hill pool 1977 - 1992. If the author noticed anything dangerous at the Broom Hill pool within this time period David Read always addressed the problem quickly. David ran the Broom Hill pool very professionally within this time period. After 1992, well: " there's now nothing more leisurely than the management at Ipswich Borough Councils leisure Services."
John Claxton Principle Inspector H.S.E. Norwich. Thanks John you quickly came to the Broom Hill swimming pool in 1993 / 1994. You where alarmed at what you saw, You offered to quickly come back to the pool if there where any further problems. You also outlined to me safety points that I was to bring to your attention if the pool was dangerous. Unfortunately you lost control of the pool, H.S.E. control was moved to Chelmsford. H.S.E. Chelmsford where useless, no use to me to keep the Broom Hill swimming pool safe. I thought at one stage that you where collusive with John Ward the X Ipswich Swimming Pools manager, my apologies, this was definitely not so. I know that Ipswich Swimming pools would have been much safer under your control.
H.S.E. Basingstoke. Thanks for attending on many occasions over the years to make the Broom Hill pool and Crown Pools Ipswich safer for the unwary general public to use. Without your assistance remedial orders, mandatory letters to I.B.C. Safety meetings with I.B.C. I feel sure we could have had another death at I.B.C. swimming pools.
Peter Smith Head Lifeguard at Broom Hill 1993 - 1994. Thanks Peter for the superb way that you ran the Broom Hill lifeguard team. This superb lifeguard team management was never repeated.
Ipswich magistrates and Crown court services. Thanks for your kindness and professionalism. A special thanks to His Honour Judge Beddard Ipswich Crown Court for his interest in 1997, and for not passing a custodial sentence for my assault on David Ball, the then leader of Ipswich Borough Council. I did write to you in 1997 telling you that I loved you for not imprisoning me. Thanks again, Love U Lots.
Special thanks to the kindness, friendliness, understanding, but most of all to the fantastic sense of humour, to My Probation officer Chris Scultz 1997, Re: the David Ball hearing Crown Court sentence. And also thanks to the staff at the Ipswich probation office in 1997 for your unbiased very helpful support. Thanks Chris, love you lots, very kind regards. You were the only bright light outside my family that I saw in 1997.
Suffolk Constabulary Civic Drive Ipswich. What can I say: you may have stopped me being killed in prison. The David Ball case interview, and my arrest because of the two false statements of I.B.C. officers John Booty Benefits manager, and a subordinate, a Miss Frieth. Booty and Frieth both made false statements in that I threatened to kill the then head of leisure, Sheila Bagulay deceased. A clever piece of police psychology gave weight to my innocence. I believe that had I have been imprisoned I.B.C. agents would have had me beaten senseless, or killed: to stop my appearance in court. Thank you for your expert psychological analyses: and releasing me, thanks for the friendliness, a nice lunch, and teas.
Thanks to Charle's Riddleston Criminal Law solicitor for your help and professionalism, teas and chats, and for appointing the right Barrister.
Thanks to Margaret, Charle's Riddleston's secretary for typing up the notes of my sentencing at Ipswich Crown Court, I was to mentally negated to accurately chronicle these notes myself.
Thanks to Queens Council, Mr. Rupert Overbury for your professionalism, interest, meetings, court appearances, and help.
